What’s on in London – October 2012

London Wheel - London

One of the reasons I moved back to London was because of the sheer amount and variety of things to do every week over here. The saying is definitely true – when you are tired of London you are tired of life. I may be tired, but I definitely am not tired of life – and I could never be tired of London.

I’m not going to list every event/festival/exhibition going on in London here. That would take far too long… Also, I’m not interested in every upcoming event – just those events that will be good for the kids, that you can take your kids along to or that you and your significant other can enjoy on a “date”.

This month is going to definitely be one of my favourites – London Cocktail Week and Chocolate Week!!! My 2 loves…

London Cocktail Week – 8 – 14 October 2012

This looks fantastic for a date! Or a bit of mummy time with the girlfriends. Grab a wristband from Covent Garden or Selfridges to be able to enjoy £4 cocktails from great bars all over London. Just to give you an example, participating bars include the London Cocktail Club, L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Floridita, Barrio Central, The Player, Trailer Happiness, and Beach Blanket Babylon. What a fantastic way to try out London’s bar scene! There are also other cocktail related events that are worth checking out.  For more information, see http://www.diffordsguide.com/london-cocktail-week

London Chocolate Week – 8 – 14 October 2012

Choc tales from Dean Street – 11 October 2012

This is another one for a date or mummy time. This looks fantastic and combines my 2 loves of chocolate and cocktails in a stunning 18th century townhouse. Each room offers a different chocolate and cocktail experience. Sounds delicious! Some of the city’s finest chocolatiers will be there. At £45/ticket its not cheap but it sounds like it will be pounds well spent. See http://www.chocolateweek.co.uk/events/view/tastings-demonstrations/913

Chocolate Unwrapped – 13 – 14 October 2012

This is one for the whole family, a date or mummy time. Its a 2 day chocolate show with demonstrations, tastings, a chocolate cafe, chocolate sculptures and even chocolate movies. Its sure to be a hit with the kids. And if you bring them, chances are you’ll get more samples :-). Although I’m not telling you to steal the food from their mouths. I’m sure they won’t eat the chilli flavoured or liqueur chocolates anyway… See tickets are offering half price tickets: http://chocolateunwrapped.seetickets.com/Promoter/Nudge-Communications/86/Default/1/200

Family day at the Design Museum – 14 October 2012

This is definitely one for the kids! My eldest daughter loves anything to do with drawing or painting so she will be in her element. There will be storytelling, family gallery tours and a colour chaser workshop (don’t ask me what that is). If you want to know more see: http://designmuseum.org/family-day

Baby Show at Earls Court – 26 – 28 October 2012

I would definitely not recommend this for date night. But its definitely perfect for the whole family (although dad may disagree). Its the UK’s biggest pregnancy and parenting event. If you’re pregnant for the first time, going to one of these events is an absolute must. You can learn a great deal about what you will need and have fun doing it: http://www.thebabyshow.co.uk/earls-court/

Ski and Snowboard Show at Earls Court – 31 October – 4 November 2012

If you’re planning a ski holiday then this is a great show to attend. Its one for the whole family. If you need to stock up on ski wear and equipment, its all here. There will also be many ski holiday package operators on site to suggest that perfect ski holiday with your kids (ie the resorts that have childcare!!!) Young kids won’t love the shopping, but there is  an ice skating rink that they will! http://www.skiandsnowboard.co.uk/ski-and-snowboard-show/visitor-info/
