The Harbour Club Notting Hill

This place has literally saved my life! No, I’m not a gym nut. In fact, before I had kids you’d have to drag me kicking and screaming to the gym. Post pregnancy belly did it for me. Desperation. So after my first child was born, it was on to the treadmill!

The thing is, the Harbour Club is not just a gym. It has a creche. A 2 hour creche! Now there’s a good reason to go and work out!  The staff at the creche are fantastic with the kids and they have a ball drawing, painting, playing with toys and making new friends. They even look after babies as young as 3 months old. Just leave a few nappies, some milk or water and the staff will take care of the rest. There is even a separate room where your baby can have a nap in their pram. The staff take the time to get to know the kids and form real bonds with them. It’s just like a nursery really, but much cheaper and more convenient.

Step Aerobics Class at a Gym Category:Step aer...With the kids in the creche, you’re free to have that all important Mummy Time. But what to do with it? There are so many options. There are zumba, pilates, body balance, body attack and step classes (just to name a few) in the studio. The gym is well equipped with the usual weights and cardio machines complete with tvs. If you need that extra push, there are personal trainers that you can use for an extra fee. If none of that interests you there are tennis courts and a heated indoor swimming pool. Really, you’re spoilt for choice (and there’s no excuse not to exercise!)

The Harbour Club is not all about exercising. If I’m feeling lazy I may just park myself in the cafe all morning and catch up on emails or have a chat with the other mums there (to “share the pain” as it were).   If I’m feeling particularly indulgent, I can go all out and get a massage at the Amida spa.

The Harbour Club is a part of my daily routine. It’s where I can take a shower without my baby screaming and my toddler pulling at the shower curtain. I can even put some make up on and do my hair and for once look remotely presentable. I can start the day in control and that sets the tone for the rest of the day. It’s so important. Those 2 hours of mummy time makes the difference between a good day and a bad day.

There is plenty on offer for the kids as well. There are swimming, tennis, karate and gymnastics lessons. It’s also a fabulous venue for kids’ parties and the club often hosts holiday camps and special events. Its perfect for the whole family.

Even if you don’t have a Harbour Club near you, find a gym that has a creche. It will make all the difference!
